Boys and Girls, age Kindergarten to 16 years old, who lives in Scarborough, are eligible to enroll to play baseball or softball. Children registering with Scarborough Little League for the first time must provide proof of residence, and a copy of the child’s birth certificate, which shall be mailed in with the registration form.

 

Registration Fees

T-Ball & Single A is $50.00, Minor/Major Leagues is $65.00, and Junior & Senior Leagues is $85.00 per child. There are no discounts to T-Ball registrants. 2nd & 3rd child in Minor/Major Leagues receive a $15.00 discount per child. The 4th child is free. There is a $20.00 discount for a second child in the Junior/Senior League divisions. There will be a $25.00 (family) late fee on all registrations received after February 14th. No child will be denied play based on ability to pay registration fees. Any questions on fees shall be directed to the league treasurer.

 

Parent Volunteers

Parent volunteers allow us to offer the Little League experience to the youth of Scarborough. Please complete a Little League Volunteer Application and join us in this time-honored, worthwhile tradition. Volunteer Applications can be mailed to Scarborough Little League, PO Box 1291, Attn: (division that you are volunteering for) also include a copy of your drivers license.

Tryout Explanation

 

By National Little League rules, AAA, Juniors & Majors player/candidates moving up to a higher level of play must tryout. At tryouts, all player/candidates are graded in the following 5 areas: batting/bunting, fielding fly balls, fielding ground balls, throwing and running. Independent evaluators will grade each candidate for the draft process and to determine draft eligibility.

 

Player candidates are asked to bring their gym shoes and glove. No cleats are allowed.

 

Please leave your bats at home, we will provide them for tryouts.

Age Groups

 

T/Ball: Age 6 prior to August 1, 2008, or is currently enrolled in kindergarten

 

Single A: Age 7 prior to August 1, 2008, or is currently enrolled in first grade

 

Double AA: Age 8 prior to August 1, 2008, or is currently enrolled in second grade

 

Triple AAA: Age 9 prior to August 1, 2007, or is currently enrolled in third grade and has played Double A the previous year.

Note: If your child’s birth date falls between April 30th and August 1st of 1997 and played Double A last season, he may either stay in Double A or move to Triple A.

 

Girls Farm: Ages 6-8 prior to January 1, 2008

 

Girls Minors: 9-12 prior to January 1, 2008

 

Boys Minors: Age 9 prior to January 1, 2008

 

Boys Major: Ages 10-12 prior to May 1, 2008 (players league age 12, may move up from Majors to Juniors)

 

Girls Major: Ages 9-12 prior to January 1, 2008

 

Boys Juniors: Ages 13 & 14 prior to May 1, 2008 (players league age 12, may move up from Majors to Juniors)

 

Girls Juniors: Ages 13 & 14 prior to January 1, 2008

 

Boys Seniors: Ages 15 & 16 prior to May 1, 2008

 

Girls Seniors: Ages 15 & 16 prior to January 1, 2008

 

Boy’s majors are governed by a straight age 10-rule prior to May 1st rule.

 

Girl’s majors are governed by a straight age 9 rule prior to December 31st rule.

Any child who turns 9 in time, may sign up for Majors Tryouts regardless of past experience as selection is based upon “merit drafting”.

 

You know your child better then anybody, so look at everything closely. If you have questions please contact the appropriate division Vice Presidents listed on the front page that you think your child will play.
