A Word From Your President

We had a very successful day at the Scarborough Fair, if that's what you call it. Thanks to Lion George and his helpers. The rain held off just enough to let the fun and fireworks to happen. The tally for guest for the Sept. 2nd meeting is starting to pick up. Lion Len has 4, Lion Jan has 2, Lion Ed B. has 1, Lion Kay has 1,Lion Bob has 1,and King Lion has 2. Keep it up. Just one week left. The speaker for the night will be Karen Packhem, from Project Grace. She will thank us for the $4,000 we gave them and explain how that was SO needed when we did it. The Board thought this would be a good time to let prospective members see just how much the Scarborough Lions help this community. Lion Kippy was a smiley face at the Fair on Friday. WE were all very happy to see him in such spirit. I understand the doctors told him the only reason he has come out of this so well is that he is a very tough #$%@^&. I told him that I couldn't agree more. See you on the 2nd.

Portable Udder
Scarborough resident, John Maroon, has patented his latest Scientific breakthrough, the portable udder. The Maine Dairy Council was quoted as saying "This invention will revolutionize the dairy industry. Good old Bessey may become obsolete." The portable udder is convenient, easy to use, and inexpensive, especially when compared to the price of a farm with cows, hay, feed, vet bills, farm hands, and milking machinery. The portable udder is easy to carry in cars, on boats, on picnics, to the drive-in, and many other places. Now a child may have a nourishing drink of milk instead of a soda pop, when away from home. This could easily be the nursing mother's new best friend. John Maroon is smiling, all the way to the bank. According to John, "My new portable udder is the best thing since sliced bread."

Blanche Cook, 102 years-old, recently received the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of Scarborough.
