What's Happening?

Becky Delaware was given a $1300 check for the Historical Society, for their work on the February roast beef dinner. It was decided not to have an April roast beef dinner. George and Shirley, Kay and Pete, will be going to the Root Cellar auction in April, tickets were purchased by the club. We still need a tail-twister, but almost have a complete slate of officers, which will be in the newsletter next month. We loaned out another wheelchair. Lion Len received a Master Key from International for bringing 20 members into the club and a Senior Master Key for bringing 25 members into our club. What a Lion! The Cumberland-North Yarmouth Club will be visiting us at our first meeting this month. Lion Chuck has transferred to the St. Augustine Lions Club, since he has moved permanently to Florida. The Scarborough Community Services annual levels of giving, was discussed, with no donation decision being made, until I got some answers to our questions from them. Gertrude Fielding sent us a thank-you for receiving the newsletter, and the Iris Network thanked us for the donation to help purchase furniture for their new building addition. We voted to donate $200 to ninth grader, Felicia Mazzone, to help her with her fund-raiser to attend the People to People European trip on July 4th. The Harrison Lions Club is sending a bus to Boston, for Lions who would like to participate in the parade on July 1st there. The bus will pick Lions

up, price is $25 per person. The Limerick Lions will hold their Charter Night at the Roost, on Saturday, May 13th, at a cost of $24 per person. The Fort Kent Lions fund-raising calendar was a big hit with all our members. At our second March meeting, V.P. George ran the meeting and did a great job. King Lion Gerry was in Hawaii, not deer hunting. We are working without the Gorham Lions help, with a new schedule. Team 1 worked the first 5th Wednesday of the year on March 29th, and will be working their regular night on April 5th. The next 5th Wednesday, in May will be covered by Team 2. Team 3 will work the 5th Wednesday in August and Team 4 will work the 5th Wednesday in November. We sent our $50 registration fee to participate at Summer-Fest, and we paid shipping on 17 boxes of items collected by the middle school students, to Katrina victims. There was discussion about moving board of directors meetings to 7:30pm so all the new board members can attend. Felicia Mazzone sent a thank-you for our donation to her People to People trip, and volunteered to come speak to us about her experience next Fall. The Fort Kent Lions' fund-raising calendar is still available, priced at $20 per calendar, so if you would like one, let me know, and I will order some more.
