|
The Friends of the Scarborough Library will offer the program, FROM MEMORIES TO MEMOIRS, on Saturday, October
29, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Scarborough Public Library, 48 Gorham Road. This workshop is for people
interested in learning about memoir writing, and for those who may have started to write and would like to learn
more about the process. The workshop will be led by Ann Kimmage. She has taught college level writing courses and memoir writing, for 30 years. Content will include discussion of memoir examples, personal writing activities, and discussion on how to: get started, find your voice, transition through time, change scenes, use dialogue and descriptive development, and related topics. The process will be informal, and will include conversations during lunch. The MEMORIES TO MEMOIRS workshop is limited to 36 participants, and preregistration is required by October 20, 2011. The program is free to current Friends members and $10.00 for nonmembers. The nonmember fee can be applied toward a Friends membership. To register, visit the Reference desk at the Scarborough Public Library, or call 883-4723 option 4. All registrants must pick up a packet of materials including workshop activities and a set of readings to prepare for the workshop. The packets will be available at the Reference desk. Participants are asked to bring a pen and a notebook for writing exercises and their lunch. Beverages will be provided. A follow-up session will be offered on the following Saturday morning, November 5, 2011, for further sharing and discussions about the memoir writing process, with an option also available for a third session. |
