What's Happening

Scarborough Reads

This year's Scarborough Reads program will feature the book The Lobster Coast by Maine author Colin Woodard, who will be participating.
The Lobster Coast tells the story of Maine from earliest settlement to the development-driven challenges of today. Few towns model this history as completely as Scarborough, which was settled early (because its marshes could support colonists’ livestock) and has in recent decades experienced some of the steepest development pressures in the state.

Sept 26, 2009. Tentative schedule:
  • 10 AM   Keynote — Colin Woodard
  • 11 AM   Book Discussion — led by Colin Woodard
Afternoon Highlights:
  • Panel Discussion — Scarborough’s working waterfront
  • Scarborough history — Rodney Laughton, The Breakers
  • Promoting Maine as a filmmaking location — Cameron Bonsey
Plus: Children’s activities

Sept 26, 2009 ♦ 10 AM
