New to the Scarborough Community Chamber is Kerstin Kirchner, a
licensed
massage therapist and owner of Refresh Rebuild Relax.
A native of Germany, Kerstin has long known the benefits of
therapeutic
massage.
"Massage has been practiced in one form or another by most
cultures for
centuries. Records dating back 3,000 years document its use in
China. The
ancient Hindus, Persians, Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians each
practiced some
form of massage," she says.
"Today, massage is widely recognized for its preventative and
curative
benefits-both of which have been supported by personal and clinical
experience, as well as by scientific research," offers the new
chamber
member. "More Americans than ever are turning to massage for health
and
medical concerns, and for relaxation and stress relief."
Kerstin is a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage
Professionals and
the International Association of Healthcare Professionals.. Her
areas of
expertise include soft tissue massage, reflexology, trigger point
therapy,
deep tissue massage, craniosacral therapy, clinical flexibility and
therapeutic exercise.
"With every client, my goal is to enhance a feeling of
well-being," she
says. "My practice-as well as my philosophy of massage and
bodywork-is based
on my desire to improve the quality of life of all those that I
touch."
"When I give a massage, I am very focused. For me, giving a
massage is
as relaxing and energizing as getting one. The human touch is not
only
communicating with another human being, but it is communicating
between two
souls. It is a spiritual experience."
At her massage studio at 14 Arbor View Lane in Scarborough,
Kerstin
provides a wide range of therapeutic massages, in addition to a
number of
specialized spa treatments. Her clients include men, women, and
youngsters.
A Scarborough resident, Kerstin and husband Uwe have four
children -Ninon (24), Nicole (17), Deen (11) and Dewie (5).
